SEE Website – Joe Our
webmaster is closing his business. We need to determine how we wish to
proceed

Options
for hosting a web site:

  • Run a blog at WordPress.com - this is a free
service that runs the same software I use for all of my projects. Your
address would be businessname.wordpress.com, or you can pay $12 a
year to use a custom domain such as businessname.com (not including the
cost of registering the domain name).
  • Create a Facebook Page – this is perhaps the easiest way to
connect with a large group of potential visitors. On the other hand, it could
be difficult to keep up with Facebook’s frequent changes to its terms of
service and privacy settings, and also monitoring comments posted on your
page. More information is available at http://www.facebook.com/pages/learn.php.
  • Host your own site through a commercial web host – this is what
I currently do. Most hosts start at $5 – $10 a month. This would require
fairly technical knowledge about building and maintaining a web site.
    I’ve used www.asmallorange.com and www.dreamhost.com and I would
    recommend either of them.

Options
for email:

Maintaining
a domain name

We will need to transfer your domain name to your credit card so that you can
handle renewals. Your domain is already pre-paid until January 2013.
The cost to renew after that is around $45 a year, but it is much
cheaper if you purchase a 3 or 5 year renewal.

Board
decided to keep the website address and would like to keep email paths.  We will not be going exclusively to
facebook.  This is a good opportunity
to rebuild the site and move away from a blog format.

Amaya
to email David Trick to see if what he would charge to build us a new site
and get us going to maintain it

Joe
to speak to his friend about possibilities as well.  Will email Erik to ask how to keep the
website as is on our own.

Elections Need
to recruit new blood for help with:

Non-Profit 501(3)c Info – Joe Gaizka
and Joe to attend a non-profit workshop on March 24. Debbie C. mentioned that

they have any details.

by Tuesday or Wednesday.

Gaizka to send updated member list

UW Language Day – Dani Language day went well.

Center for Spanish Studies asked if we could
send a rep for their language symposium on April 16, 9:00-1:00.  ML spoke with Jean Escoz and he’s
interested but needs more details. Amaya will put Jean in touch with CSS.

Summer Picnic Venue – Marilou August 13 at Sportsman State Park in Yakima
– must be out by 6.  No kegs
